The Impact of Green Credit on Corporate Carbon Emissions——The Case of Power Generation Enterprises

  • As an important policy leading China towards green development, green credit policy has been an important influence on carbon emissions.Taking Chinese A-share listed power generation enterprises in Shanghai and Shenzhen from 2012 to 2021 as a sample, this paper studied the impact of green credit on the carbon emissions of power generation enterprises, and explored in depth whether the carbon emission intensity of enterprises affected the effect of green credit policy. The results found that green credit would significantly reduce the carbon emissions of power generation enterprises, and at the same time, the carbon emissions of power generation enterprises would be suppressed more significantly under high carbon emission intensity. In addition, this paper put forward the following suggestions:the government should improve the support for power generation enterprises to carry out green power generation, and optimize the allocation of resources according to the power generation enterprises’ own situation.
