Study on the Competitiveness and Complementarity of Trade in Timber Products between Laos and China

This paper estimated and analyzed the international competitiveness of wood products from Laos and China. The results showed that Laos' international market share index and explicit comparative advantage index were relatively low, indicating that Laos' competitiveness in the international market was relatively weak, while China's competitiveness in international trade was strong. This paper also analyzed the trade structure of wood products between Laos and China, and found that Laos' timber exports had a more important position in the Chinese market, but the production capacity of wood-based panels and paper products was insufficient, and it's necessary to further strengthen its own production capacity and technical level. In general, by studying the characteristics and competitiveness of the trade of timber products between Laos and China, it provided valuable reference and suggestions for trade cooperation between the two countries.
