Evaluation of the Development of China’s Forest Products Industry and A Comparative Study on Competitiveness

Based on the value-added trade data of 33 countries from 2011 to 2021,this paper evaluated the international competitiveness of China's forest products industry by using three indicators to measure international competitiveness—comparative advantage,participation and participation status in the global value chain (GVC). It sorted out the framework of the concept of value-added trade and it calculated the industry competitiveness. The results showed that due to the strong comparative advantage of cheap labor resources in the past,China vigorously developed the labor-intensive forest products industry,which improved its position in GVC to a certain extent. China's forest products industry had gradually got rid of the state of large and weak,in addition to determining the status of the forest products industry compared with international counterparts. It not only put forward specific ideas to solve the problem of factor allocation and upgrading structure,but also formulated specific measures to maintain and improve its competitiveness.
