Abstract:
The traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) cultures of Guangdong,Hong Kong, and Macao share a common root and origin, forming a distinctive system within the broader context of China’s TCM culture. This provides the feasibility for integrating TCM health tourism resources from a regional perspective.By employing a combination of text analysis and Geographic Information System(GIS) spatial analysis methods, this study systematically organizes the concept and classification of TCM health tourism resources and measures their spatial agglomeration and diffusion characteristics in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The conclusions are:(1) TCM health tourism is based on TCM resources and aims to provide diversified products and services around the goal of achieving overall health, while also carrying the responsibility of spreading the culture of traditional Chinese medicine. It is divided into three main categories and six subcategories of resources.(2) The TCM health tourism resources in the Guangdong-Hong KongMacao region form a high-density agglomeration core area at the junction of Guangzhou’s southwest direction and Foshan, with secondary high-density agglomeration areas in other parts of Guangzhou,as well as in Hong Kong and Macao.(3) The TCM health tourism resources in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao region are primarily clustered in a "southwest to northeast " direction, showing a strong tendency for agglomeration.Based on these findings, the following cross-regional integration strategies are proposed:prioritize the integration and development of areas with high spatial aggregation of resources, construct five TCM health tourism spatial routes in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao region, and innovate the integration of high-quality products around seven themed trails, such as Hot Spring immersion,Forest Health Preservation, and Lingnan Medicine Root-Seeking.
