Abstract: This study analyzes high-quality literature published from 2000 to 2023 on urban land intensification and ecological welfare, utilizing CiteSpace visualization software to provide a comprehensive review of the characteristics of both domestic and international literature as well as differences in research hotspots. The results show that:(1) Research teams in China have formed relatively stable collaborative groups; however, the connections between these teams remain weak. The publication structure of domestic research institutions exhibits low concentration and weak interconnectivity.(2) There has been a noticeable decline in the popularity of research on urban land intensification in China in recent years. The continuity of research across various sub-fields is lacking, and the integration of urban land intensification with ecological welfare is insufficiently explored.(3) Scholars in the field of natural sciences abroad have made significant contributions to research on urban land intensification and ecological welfare. Chinese scholars excel in developing evaluation indicator systems and factor indicator frameworks. However, existing research lacks a comprehensive integration of urban land intensification and ecological welfare.(4) Improving team communication mechanisms, strengthening interdisciplinary collaborations, and enriching research outcomes in the field of urban land intensification and ecological welfare are effective strategies for enhancing the quality of domestic journals and advancing research in this area.
